Terms and Conditions – Swimming Lessons

Swimming Lesson Terms and Conditions.

1. General Lesson Policies

All lessons will have a maximum 6:1 pupil-to-teacher ratio in line with Swim England guidelines. This will not be exceeded at any time. If a teacher is unable to take the lesson, another teacher must be present, pupils cannot transfer to another teacher where the class ratio is already at capacity.

Lessons are available on a first come first serve basis. If your preferred day or timeslot is not available, you will be offered an alternative or you may choose to join the waiting list.

All lessons will follow school term times in the local area and therefore the cost and length of each term may vary.

Our teachers will be responsible for your child during their 30-minute lesson ONLY. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian/carer to look after children at all other times whilst on the Dive into Swimming premises. This also includes any children or siblings spectating.

Children must wait to enter the pool until the swim teacher instructs them it is safe to do so.

Swimmers should aim to arrive no more than 5 minutes before the lesson and leave as quickly as possible after the lesson, this will allow for maximum comfort in the changing room.

When booking, you must divulge all known medical and physical conditions for the child in question. This allows us to accommodate their needs. If there are any changes whilst enrolled on one of our courses, please e-mail us immediately so we can update our records. All information regarding this matter will be kept confidential by our staff.

2. Payments & Refunds

Before any swimming lessons can commence, the whole term fee will need to be paid upfront. This will be checked by staff before the first lesson is due to begin. Should your child join midway through the term, the cost for the remaining amount of lessons in the term will be paid.

Refunds will not be permitted unless the missed lesson is the fault of Dive into Swimming. Additionally, refunds will only be given when rescheduling is not possible.

In exceptional circumstances, there may be an opportunity to carry lessons over to the next term however, these will need to be judged on a case-by-case basis. Please be aware this cannot be guaranteed.

4 weeks before the end of term, you will be asked if the enrolled swimmer wishes to continue with lessons for the next term. If so, you will have 2 weeks to pay for the renewal. If you fail to do so, you will be issued one last reminder before the space is offered to another swimmer.

3. Hygiene & Illness

There will be no food consumed in the pool buildings, this includes chewing gum.

Under no circumstances will the use of talcum powder be allowed, this included at the poolside OR in the changing rooms.

Outdoor footwear will not be allowed at the poolside, where possible please remove shoes or change into appropriate footwear such as flip flops, sliders, or crocs.

Swimmers or spectators should not run at the poolside. This is to minimise the risk of injury as surfaces will be wet and may be slippery.

Anyone attending a lesson should remove plasters, jewellery and hair clips, long hair should be tied back, and everyone must wear a swimming hat.

Every swimmer must use the showers at the side of the pool BEFORE entering the pool itself. This ensures any loose dirt or debris is washed off before getting into the pool.

Please make sure any children attending a lesson use the toilet beforehand to reduce disruption during the lesson.

If your child feels unwell, we advise that you do not bring them to the lesson. If your child experiences sickness or diarrhoea, they must be clear of symptoms for 48 hours prior to attending their lesson. If you are unsure about whether to bring your child to a lesson, please e-mail Dive into Swimming or contact your GP for advice.
