Frequently Asked Questions
Can I watch my child swim?
Yes, there is plenty of room to sit and watch at the poolside. In fact, we ask that a parent or guardian watches every swim lesson that your child attends. This helps with mid-lesson toilet breaks and sures quick turnaround between lesson which allows us to spend longer teaching your child to swim!
What equipment will my child need to swim?
Each child should wear appropriate swim wear when attending lesson; this can be purchased from our online shop or at all good sports retailers. We also ask that your child wears a swimming hat, plus goggles can be really great to help with progress. We provide arms discs for floatation purposes, so you don’t have to worry about armbands.
How long will it be until my child can swim proficiently?
It is truly impossible to put a set amount of time on this, every child is completely different, learning at different rates and often having different needs. We strive to build your child’s confidence and skills in the water from the very beginning, so they progress into strong and capable swimmers.
Will my child achieve certificates?
Yes, your child will achieve certificates when they succeed in mastering all skills within each level of the Swim England Syllabus OR for swim distances (please see our lessons) They will also be given badges to accompany the certificates.
You will be notified to pay £2.50 when a certificate is ready to be issued to your child, and once this has been paid, they will be presented with their award.
What happens if the lesson is cancelled?
If a lesson is cancelled, due to a company-related issue we will do our best to re-arrange the lesson or add credit to your account. If the lesson is cancelled by you, we will not refund however depending on availability we may be able to reschedule. Please note, this may NOT always be possible, therefore if you can please give us plenty of notice.
Can my child start midway through the term?
Yes! We will just take payment for the number of lessons left in the term.
Do I, or the teachers get into the water during the lesson?
Parents and Guardians do not get into the water during the lessons. Our instructors, however, will be in the water as we find this approach works best in terms of demonstration, and safety, and helps us to easily assess the needs of each child.
